Travel Hacks to Know This Summer

Going on a holiday and want to simplify the travelling process? Follow these tips to make your travelling smooth, so that your vacation can be as relaxing as possible.

1. Booking and Travelling:
  • Scan your documents:
Scan your passport, ID, travel documents and itinerary and email it to yourself so that you have a copy of them in the event of a theft or loss.
  • Private Browsing:
Use private browsing or delete your cookies when searching or booking flights online. Travel sites use dynamic pricing where they track your browsing history and increase the price of the flight once they know you are interested.
  • Group Booking:
When booking for a group or family, start searching for tickets as a single traveller. If there a few seats left at a lower fare, you can get a partial deal.
  • Try and book night flights/transportation:
This not only saves money on accommodation but also, if you’re a power sleeper,    leaves you rested and refreshed as you reach your destination.
  • Book your tickets in advance or last minute:
If there are many vacant seats on the flight, you may want to wait and see if prices decline. If the flight is almost full or you’re travelling during the holidays, you may want to book your tickets as soon as you can.
  • Check prices on international airlines:
Prices of international airlines might be lower. Some airlines might even provide better amenities in economy. If you get a great deal, take it only if it is refundable.
  • Don’t fly direct:
Compare prices of nonstop flight tickets with connecting flights, as it can help you save significant amount of money.

2. Technology:

The last thing you want is you to be unable to use your device on a long journey because its battery is dead. Carry a power bank and universal adapter to charge your devices.
  • Storage of wires:
You should store loose cables/chargers in a sunglass case to keep everything in one location. You can even wrap headphones or chargers around old gift cards to keep them tangle free.
  •  If you forget to carry an adapter for your charger:
Check for a USB port behind the television in your room if you don’t have an adapter. Else you can borrow a charger for the duration of your stay, from the hotel.
  • Use Wi-Fi and avoid charges on data usage:
Make sure your mobile data option is turned off and aeroplane mode is on. You can use free messaging applications like WhatsApp, Hike etc on a Wi-Fi connection. Google Maps is also available offline, to access this just type in ok maps into the search box while connected to an internet network.
  • When travelling to beaches or water parks:
Keep your devices in a plastic bag to prevent it from getting wet when you go to places where there is a possibility of you getting wet.

3. Clothes/shoes:
  • Making space:
Roll your clothes to save space and avoid wrinkles while packing.Use hotel freebies such as shampoo, conditioner, soap etc to make a little additional room in your carry-on luggage and save on money by not buying these extra commodities.
  • Eliminating odour:
Put the leftover hotel soap with the dirty laundry so that the suitcase doesn’t begin to stink.

  • Packing shoes:

Pack shoes in shower caps to avoid soles of the shoes touching the clothes.

4. Beauty products:
  • Carry samples of your favourite cosmetics:
The next time you go shopping for makeup or perfume, ask for samples which are convenient to carry while travelling.
  • Buy a good sunscreen from home:
Many beach destinations sell sun block at very high rates, so carry your own travel friendly sunscreen in your cosmetic/toiletry bag.
  • To stop bottles from leaking in your suitcase:
Put plastic wrap over the container and fasten with the cap to avoid outflow of the bottles.
  • Carrying as much lotion as is needed:
Pack moisturizer in contact lens containers instead of carrying the entire bottle.

5. Food:
  • Eat cheap:
Buy food, water from local grocery stores. You not only save money but also eat like a local would.
  • For discounts or deals:
